About Re-design Haori

The "haori" is a traditional Japanese garment.

The "haori" is a traditional Japanese garment, which is a type of jacket worn over traditional Japanese clothing. It is said to have originated from the "jinbaori," a coat worn by samurai over their armor for warmth during battles in the Sengoku period. ori is similar to a cardigan in Western clothing and is suitable for indoor wear as well, unlike a coat.

The haori is designed with a front opening and consists of a front panel, a back panel, a collar, hem, and sleeves. The collar is the part that connects the front and back panels and has a shape that widens along the neckline. There are formal "mon-tsuki haori," casual "chu-haori," and "cha-haori" for tea ceremonies.

If you choose to incorporate the haori into your daily wear, you do not need to worry about the details of the dress code. You can enjoy wearing it in any scene and coordinate it with the clothing of your choice. We hope to spread the haori, which can be worn easily like a thin jacket, throughout the world.

We have redesigned the traditional Japanese "haori" to make it more accessible for modern lifestyle.

Traditional haori jackets were designed as an outerwear garment for kimonos and did not have pockets. Considering our modern lifestyle, carrying a smartphone and putting small items in pockets is commonplace.

All gender-free models.

Most of the vintage kimonos with beautiful and gorgeous Japanese patterns that are used as the outer material of the haori are for women, but we want everyone to be able to freely choose and wear a haori that they like with Japanese patterns and colors, so we made them all gender-free models.

Indulge in the Casual Sensation of Wearing a Kimono.

The fabric used in rare kimonos is an art piece meticulously dyed by skilled artisans through handcrafted techniques. To carry forward the beautiful composition and color schemes adorned with traditional patterns, we have chosen to redesign them into haori. Another reason for recommending haori is its versatility, allowing it to be worn like a regular jacket.

Overview of our Haor

Our redesigned haori starts by sourcing rare antique kimonos, which we search for and procure from individuals and dealers. The entire manufacturing process of the haori is carried out by skilled artisans in Japan.

The feature is that the collar continues to the hem. In some cases, the collar on the back of the neck is folded half outward.

The lining is made of natural fabric that goes well with the vintage kimono on the outside. As a result, pockets were provided on theinside of the chest. It also increases the durability of the haori.
